For the first time since 2016, The Cleveland Browns have won a football game when they beat the New York Jets 21-17. The Browns got a surprise boost when rookie QB Baker Mayfield subbed in for injured starting QB Tyrod Taylor. Mayfield’s play received praise from not just the sports world, but even from the president himself.

President Trump, while at a rally in Las Vegas, said about Mayfield, “Cleveland is a lot like Las Vegas. They’re winners. How about that Baker Clayfield? Right? What a player! He’s gonna be a great point guard, ya know. I hear Baker makes the best chocolate cake. Great stuff. Yeah he scored a lot against the Winnipeg Jets. Something like 21, uh, points? Wow. He scored 21 times in that game. 21 touchdowns and he’s just a rookie shortstop goalie. The democrats don’t want you to score or have chocolate cake. I’m making football so great. Football is dying, you know, but it’s doing better than it ever has since I got in office. Look at the numbers, they’re down, down, down. But the numbers are very very high because of me. The NFL is terrible but great and not so good when you have Batman, the best last airbender.”

When Mayfield was told of the president’s praise, the Browns quarterback said, “Um… thanks. Wait, does Trump think Batman is a 12 year old Asian boy? Because that’s— you know what, never mind.”

The Browns will visit the Oakland Raiders on September 30.
