Possible Trade Scenarios For Rockets' F Carmelo Anthony
/written by Kipp Cutler, Garland Wagonwheel
Oooooh snap! Looks like Melo is having some trouble with his current team, the Houston Rockets (read about that here via ESPN). Carmelo Anthony was once one of the premier stars in the NBA. After winning a NCAA championship with Syracuse, Melo was the 3rd pick in the infamous 2003 draft that included Lebron James, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Chris Kaman, David West, Mo Williams, and Kyle Korver (all were NBA All-Stars at least once). Melo is by far the worst of this group. Here’s a brief timeline of his stint with the Rockets:
August 13 - Signed with Houston Rockets
August 14 - Rockets stock fell
September 24 - Start of Training Camp
September 25 - Melo began feeding on his teammates talents
October 17 - Rockets’ season began
October 18 - Rockets’ season ended
All of those things definitely happened. No need to fact check that at all. The season isn’t a total loss yet since it’s still early. Houston can’t trade Melo until January but that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate some beneficial trade scenarios now.
LA Lakers
Houston trades: Carmelo Anthony, Gerald Green, Zhou Qi
Lakers trade: Rajon Rondo, Rick Victor
This is a great idea for both teams. Houston rids of the parasite, and Lebron gets the virus instead. Melo will have plenty to leech on during the entire season since Lebron is still incredibly talented. And Rick Victor isn’t even a basketball player. He’s one half of WWE’s tag team The Ascension.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Houston trades: Carmelo Anthony, Michael Carter-Williams, Brandon Knight, Travis Scott
Cavaliers trade: JR Smith, Ante Zizic, Drew Carey
You literally can’t get any worse if you’re either team. Houston gets to trade away all of their dead weight at one time. Travis Scott’s new song is horrible so you might as well trade him too. Cavs get to solve their biggest issue… stupidity. JR Smith will be gone and no one watches The Drew Carey Show. Win-win.
New York Knicks
Houston trades: Carmelo Anthony, Marques Houston, Marco Papadopolous
Knicks trade: Kevin Knox, a Kenmore 600 Washing Machine, $30 Applebees gift card
The New York Knicks have the most incompetent management in the league. Are they dumb enough to take Melo back? Yes. Are they dumb enough to realize Marques Houston was Roger from Sister Sister and doesn’t play in the NBA? Yes. Are they competent enough to know Marco Papadopolous isn’t even a real person and I just made up that name? No. On the other hand, is Houston any smarter? They signed Melo so the answer is no. And before anyone gets upset about trading away Marques Houston, think about the last single he had that you liked. Don’t worry, we’ll wait.
Right. You couldn’t.
